I’ve been doing a lot of opinionated stuff for my other posts, so this one is a much more basic one. Not to mention I probably should have done this earlier on, but whatever. Types of games!
The first one on our list is shooting games. These are the mindless games involving running around with a gun in front of you shooting people while you’re screamed at for being cheap because you used a rocket launcher/shotgun/grenade/sniper rifle/didn’t count to ten before you moved/etc.
People like Brooks like these games.
NOOOOOOOBS
These are becoming increasingly popular. Mostly people with 360′s are playing them.
Examples: Halo, Gears of War, Resistance: Fall of Man.
The next item on our list are platformer games. These are one of the more familiar and classic ones. Games like Mario, Castlevania and Kirby, where you’re jumping around on platforms with cartoony graphics, whipping zombies, sucking up furballs and jumping on turtles. These are probably the most popular games that have been around the longest, since the NES era. =P
Examples: Mario, Kirby, Castlevania, Contra.
Next is fighting games. My personal favourite, with tons of different ones out there, either 2D or 3D. They mostly come out on Arcade machines first. These are the games where you have to input like a gajillion precise moves of the joystick in conjunction with specific button presses, and I just adore them :3
Examples: Tekken, Street Fighter, BlazBlue
Adventure games are there too. They usually involve lots of exploration, puzzle solving and fighting, and usually have pretty deep storylines and whatnot. I don’t play many of these…
Examples: Barbie Island Princess, Love Doll: Lovely Idol (>_>;;)
Driving games are basically what the name would suggest. You’re driving a car and attempting to beat the other cars at being fast, or something some other games involve having cars with giant guns and missiles on top and attempting to blow up the others. Those seem like the most fun ones, in my opinion.
RPGs (AKA role playing games): God, I love them. Mostly Japanese, involving stories where a hero with a gigantic sword who’s convinced he’s a normal person has his village destroyed when he has to go pick flowers for his grandmother, and then finds out he has to go save the world. Involving either real-time (Where you actually attack the enemies by moving), turn-based (Where each side attacks in turns), or strategy (where you move your units manually on a map). A lot of these games have great stories, which tons of awesome characters and spells and effects and stuff =P
Examples: Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Tales series.
RTS is also popular with some people. They’re real-time strategy games, which involve moving your units around in real-time, building buildings and upgrading them, upgrading your units, managing your units, destroying the opponent’s buildings and units and winning the game. Some popular RTSes are televised in Korea, and treated like real sports. Korea’s weird.
People like Joshua Glenn like to play RTSes!
Examples: Dawn of War, Starcraft, Command and Conquer.
Miscellaneous: These are games that don’t really belong in any special category. They’re mostly simulating stuff, or just for fun. Whether you’re swinging a Wiimote to hit a golf ball or owning up Through the Fire and Flames with a plastic guitar, these games are for less the hardcore crowd but mostly the casual ones.
Examples: Guitar Hero, Wii Sports, Cooking Mama

I like more games than just RTSes. My favourite would definitely have to be the FPS, which means First Person Shooters for those who don’t know what that means.
RPG. ;D obviously, there is no point of playing a game that even when you’re done you don’t know what in the world happened.
. Yes, that has happened. I basically gave it to my brother when that happens or make him go print out a walk through. ^__^
FF is goooood. all the characters are pretty!! ^3^ You should add Kingdom Heart, it deserves to be there. :S
Except RPG games really suck when you get stuck. And you run around a town talking to every person for an hour

My favourite game is Cod4 because it’s a shooting game and the weapons are pretty nice.
